The first shooting session of BLUE BANKS comes to an end !
Unfolding over four seasons in rural Romania, Andreea Bortun’s film follows the evolving relationship between a young single mother, Lavinia, and her son Dani, when she decides to go work abroad as he’s entering his teenage years.

This Romanian, French and Slovenian coproduction’s supports include Eurimages, Cinémas du Monde and the Région Sud.

BLUE BANKS by Romanian director Andreea Bortun and STRANGER EYES by Singaporean director Yeo Siew Hua have been selected at the Gap Financing Market in Venice.

BLUE BANKS will be the first feature film by Andreea, whose last short film had its world premiere at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in 2021 (When Night Meets Dawn).

STRANGER EYES will be our second collaboration with Yeo Siew Hua and Akanga Films (Singapore) after A LAND IMAGINED (Golden Leopard – Locarno 2018).

Both films have been awarded the CNC’s Aide aux Cinémas du Monde after having been supported in development by the Région Sud.

Recently supported by MEDIA/Creative Europe and Aide aux Cinémas du Monde, Andreea Bortun’s first feature film has entered the final scouting phase in Romania. The shooting of BLUE BANKS should start in the first quarter of 2023, in Romania and in Marseille.
