The Day She Disappeared
DIRECTOr: Tawfiq Nizamidin
48 minutes I France, Taiwan, Italy
Berti, a 29-year-old Uyghur, seems to find it difficult to settle into his new life in France. Although he remains attached to his community and his native culture, he no longer believes in political commitment. Just the opposite of Mihriay, with whom he is deeply in love, and who was involved in all the protests… until she suddenly disappeared from activist circles and left France without any explanation.
While waiting for her hypothetical return, Berti drags his disenchanted humour through the streets of Marseilles and eases his loneliness by meeting new people. Mostly with his Uyghur friends, as a wall seems to separate him from the French, despite the best of intentions.
Until Lea takes a close interest in his story with Mihriay…
